Tyson Moore, Minister of the Crenshaw Church of Christ was born in Inglewood, CA, but raised in Oakland CA where he worshipped at the South Berkeley Church of Christ. Tyson has been worshipping with the Crenshaw congregation since 1993.  He was first challenged with the responsibility of ministry in 1995, serving as Crenshaw’s Youth Minister. He first began preaching in June of 1994, and has been a force for the gospel of Christ ever since.

Tyson graduated from Berkeley High School in 1992, and enrolled at Laney College in Oakland before moving back to Los Angeles. Quickly after relocating to Los Angeles he attended Los Angeles Bible College under the direction of Dr. Calvin Bowers, and quickly moved on to and graduated from Pepperdine University’s Seaver College with a Bachelor’s in Religion in 2002, a Masters of Science in Ministry in 2006 and a Masters of Divinity degree in 2010.

On February 21, 1998 he married the former Geneva (Genny) L. Phillips and they have three children, two sons, Isaiah Marshall and Nehemiah Earlie and one daughter, Micaiah LaChelle.

After serving over 10 years as the Assistant Minister under the leadership and guidance of Billy Curl, Tyson become the Minister of the Crenshaw congregation on January 1, 2014. In addition to his ministerial duties at Crenshaw, Tyson is also a Director for the California State Youth Conference.

Tyson has hosted numerous Gospel Meetings and continues to receive invitations to be a featured speaker at many evangelistic events throughout the brotherhood. Additionally, he and his wife Genny facilitate and participate in numerous marriage ministries and seminars throughout the country.

Tyson’s ministry is defined by his vision to encourage. He encourages, all ages through countless sermons, challenging classes and spirit-led counseling.
